Twofifty is a project I started in 2005. It allows you to track how many movies of the IMDB Top 250 you’ve seen. It was the first web application I ever wrote. AJAX was the new kid on the block and I knew just enough PHP to hack something together.
Version 1.0 was a huge hit thanks to the interactive button you could incorporate on your own site (back in 2005 -before Facebook took off- everyone had a personal website). However, code quality was terrible, hosting was expensive and I was very busy enjoying life and the project was abandoned.
Several years later I rewrote Twofifty in PHP and Symfony 1.4 as a Facebook. Code quality was better, hosting was still expensive and Facebook kept changing their API’s so often the project was once again abandoned.
Enter 2016 and I rewrote Twofifty again. This time in Meteor (and React), as an experiment of how a web application in 2016 should be built and structured.
